Photonics Hub likes to launch an online seminar series regarding optical measurement techniques. We want to discuss how various optical instruments like interferometers or microscopes for example work to operate 3d surface measurements. To understand how all this works, we start with a brief introduction why light is so beautiful doing 3d surface measurements. This Photonics Hub Online Seminar is the start of a series of online seminars discussing the basic knowledge of optics.
In the first online seminar we will discuss the basic concepts of optics:
- Refraction and geometrical optics
- Optical imaging and aberrations
- Wave optics
- Interference
- Diffraction
- Resolution limit of optical instruments
- Polarization
In our Photonics Hub Online Seminars you can easily participate via internet our knowledge courses held by professional speakers from industry, business or university.
The Photonics Hub Online Courses are provided via the edudip-next platform.
The starting time is 5:00 pm (CEST, UTC+2).
After succesful registration and payment we will send you a personalised link to registrate on the edudip-next platform for our Photonics Hub Online Seminar.
The platfrom provides a chat function for questions during the online seminar. A Webcam and microphone also can be used for communication, but isn't necessary to participate.
Target group
Our Photonics Hub Online Seminars adress all people, who cannot participate in our residential courses or want to benefit in participating from anywhere by internet.
Contentually this online seminar gives the participants a starting point to learn about the fundamental properties and basics of optics that allow the 3d measuring of surfaces.
You can participate this online seminar at any kind of knowledge stage after school and want to learn more about the basic knowledge of optics.

Prof. Dr. Thomas Sure
At the Technische Hochschule Mittelhessen - University of Applied Sciences Prof. Dr. Sure teaches and researches primarily on the field of Optical Measuring Technique an Optical Design. Prior to that he was head of the department for Optical Technology Development at Leica Microsystems CMS GmbH in Wetzlar.
